AryOLingo for ages 3 to 12
AryOLingo is for children about 3 to 12. The same app works for the whole range: the youngest children (3 to 5) lean on pictures, sounds and short games with a parent beside them, and older children try spelling, longer puzzles, chess and geography. The age a parent enters shows age-appropriate content.
Ages at a glance
| Age | What they enjoy | A parent can help by |
|---|---|---|
| 3 to 5 | Tapping pictures and hearing words, Memory Match, drawing and colouring, looking after a pet. | Sitting beside them and playing along, always at 3 and 4, and for the first sessions at 5. |
| 7 | Word Wheel with a topic, Picture Hunt, Word Catch, short number lessons, stickers. | Asking "which new word did you find today?". |
| 9 | Spelling in Word Dash, Atlas Bay countries, chess lessons, the daily adventure. | Letting them choose a country and tell you a fact they learned. |
| 11 | Longer word and logic challenges, chess against robots, the optional league, pronunciation practice if a parent allows it. | Talking about screen time and agreeing when to play. |
A 3 to 5 year old
A child of three to five can start with pictures and sounds. Words are spoken aloud, so reading is not needed to begin. A three or four year old needs a grown-up beside them to choose the game, tap along and say the words together. Short rounds fit short attention. Drawing, colouring, the pet and the sticker book give calm moments between games.
A 7 year old
A seven year old can write simple words after hearing them and can follow a topic. Word Wheel, Picture Hunt and Word Catch fit well, with little lessons in counting and adding.
A 9 year old
A nine year old can spell, plan and compare. Word Dash spelling, Atlas Bay (new countries with six words and a fact each) and chess lessons give more to think about.
An 11 year old
An eleven year old can take longer challenges. Chess against robot friends, logic puzzles and the optional monthly league (nicknames only, no chat) add a challenge. A parent can allow pronunciation practice so the child can say words out loud.
One honest note
AryOLingo is a playful way to practise English. It is not a school course and it does not promise test results. Children under about six do well with a grown-up beside them.
